Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) Review of Implications

MWSA Review

Author Richard Davidson weaves an intricate mystery in his new book, Implications. The clues in this story are like pieces of dew on a spider’s web that his protagonist Pastor Arthur Blake has to find and pull together. I enjoyed how the author drew in history from the 1920’s and even Al Capone into Blake’s investigation of his present day arson. Lost diamonds, bootlegging, mob murders, infidelity, revenge, all have to fit together just right, so Blake can solve the case he has been assigned, the arson of a local church. If you enjoy mysteries this is a great read. With a truly likable protagonist, complex plots, and a lot of suspects to weed through. A fun read.

Contents Summary: This anthology covers many aspects of overcoming life’s problems, obstacles, and challenging developments. The contributing writers have used fiction, non-fiction, memoir, poetry, historical chronicle, and drama to highlight our continuing need to overcome our problems, rather than dwell on them. The reader will learn from many talented writers the skills needed to respond constructively, energetically, and sometimes humorously to whatever obstacle bars one’s path. Apply their lessons to your own needs and to those of others you cherish.

This is Davidson’s seventh book and his second self-help title. In this genre, he has also written DECISION TIME! Better Decisions for a Better Life – a guidebook having many adherents in several countries. He has recently completed his Lord’s Prayer Mystery Series, the five volumes of which.are: (I) Lead Us Not into Temptation, (II) Give Us this Day Our Daily Bread, (III) Forgive Us Our Trespasses, (IV) Thy Will Be Done, and (V) Deliver Us from Evil. RADMAR Publishing Group announces Author Richard Davidson’s new novel, Deliver Us from Evil. This novel is Volume V (and the final volume) in his mystery series based on phrases from the Lord’s Prayer.

Davidson continues his fascination with the suitability of each line of the Lord’s Prayer to be a mystery novel title. He emphasizes the fact that he tailors each novel to convey the significance of the original prayer phrase. In Deliver Us from Evil he asks whether some people are inherently evil or good. He says, “We have to live in the midst of many people whom we can only know to a slight degree. Should we be optimistic about them and our relationship with them, or should we always be suspicious of them and on guard against treachery? My latest novel explores the basic nature of people and their relationships.”

Plot Summary: Arthur and Irma’s wedding day has finally arrived, but an unexpected interruption leads to their need to investigate a possible murder committed by someone close to them. With the aid of friends and federal agents Penny and Joe Gonzalez, they follow a series of clues, crisscrossing the United States to learn more about the murder, related subsequent events, and the significance of a rare object brought home by a veteran of the Iraq War. A second murder close to Pastor Arthur Blake’s church involves them in a new investigation, assisting Parkville Police Chief Bobby Andrews. Are these murders and the tracking of that strange object connected? Will marriage deteriorate or improve the relationship between Arthur and Irma? Character flaws in many relationships color the outcome.

This is Davidson’s seventh book and his fifth mystery novel. This is a legal notice that RADMAR has had on its original radmar.com website since 12/18/2003. It indicates that as technology, our business ventures, and our available storage space change, past tape and disc duplication customers must use on-file masters, ask for them to be returned, or otherwise refrain from expecting us to permanently store obsolete materials. Will Shakespeare took his folios back, knowing we wouldn’t store them for 450 years.

Legal Notice (12/18/2003): RADMAR, Inc. has, as a convenience to its
media services customers, stored customer master materials in film, audio tape,
video tape and multimedia formats. Such storage is for the customer’s
convenience in placing periodic re-orders for duplications of such media.
RADMAR, Inc. is not able to store such materials indefinitely, especially when
they are have not been ordered for many years. Accordingly, this is to serve
notice that owners of such old master materials should contact RADMAR, Inc.
within 90 days (by 3/18/2004) to give instructions for return or
disposition of such materials for which they are the legal owners. Proof of
ownership will be required if the contacting party is not the same party who
originally authorized materials storage at RADMAR, Inc. After this period,
RADMAR, Inc. will dispose of stored master materials which have not been
re-ordered for five years or more at its own discretion. Following this 90 day
period, this five year dormancy rule will apply automatically to future stored
materials. Leaving of masters with RADMAR in the future will imply acceptance of
this rule.

The Old Is New

RADMAR, Inc. has been in the creativity business since 1971. Major early efforts combined Audio Visual product manufacturing with equipment to allow you to produce your own program materials and later, through our Media Services Group, RADMAR moved to generate programs and educational materials for you. We started with our Filmaker Filmstrip Maker for in-house production of 35mm filmstrips. Then we added our Dupe-Pro Slide Duplicator for production of slide sets and a Show-Sync Cassette Recorder to let you add a synchronized sound program to your visuals. We got into the film projector business with our Soundstage 50 Sound Slide Projector which was used by organ manufacturers to teach their customers to play the organ. We also manufactured our own Copy Stands and made specialized versions of these for other companies, including Bell & Howell Company and Creative Learning Systems. While film was still the medium of choice, we entered the filmstrip and slide projector industry with our Crusader, Crusader-Plus, and Illustrator Projectors and their accessory systems. These projectors could operate on any power standard around the world or on battery power. We later added Portable Overhead Projectors. As video moved to center stage, we introduced RADMAR 16mm Tele-Cine Projectors to transfer 16mm motion picture films to video. These were distributed by Bell & Howell dealers worldwide. RADMAR’s entry into the Media Services industry came, first by purchasing an Illinois film laboratory, and later by acquiring RCA’s Video Duplication Service. There were many other steps along the way, but RADMAR, Inc. evolved into a post-production house and duplicator/distributor for slides, filmstrips, audio tapes, video tapes, and eventually CD’s and DVD’s. We drop-shipped all of these types of media for clients to field locations all over the world. We also produced our own film and video materials: Carlos Campesino Filmstrips for education and training in international rural developing areas; Hanna-Barbera Educational Filmstrips (duplication and distribution only); and Export Procedures Video Training Materials. We soon realized that our Media Services activities constituted a form of Publishing, so we began to enter that market with books, while we continued to duplicate and distribute other media.
